Energization Exercises

The Three Hour and Six Hour Meditations begin with a series of  exercises developed by Paramahansa Yogananda. The meditation leader will demonstrate each exercise. Participation in the exercises is optional.

The Energization Exercises are a method of exercise that directly awakens the all-healing life force for the maintenance of health and the direct healing of disease.

“The Energization Exercises, which are fully explained in the SRF Lessons, utilize a method I discovered in 1916 of drawing cosmic energy into the body and directing it, by conscious will, to recharge the various parts of the body.”

World Wide Prayer Circle

At the end of temple services and meditations, members practice the spiritual healing technique taught by Paramahansa Yogananda and pray for physical, mental, and spiritual healing of others, and for world peace and harmony.

“The human mind, freed from the disturbances or ‘static’ of restlessness, is empowered to perform all the functions of complicated radio mechanisms — sending as well as receiving thoughts and tuning out undesirable ones. As the power of a radio broadcasting station is regulated by the amount of electrical current it can utilize, so the effectiveness of a human radio depends on the degree of will power possessed by each person.”  —Paramahansa Yogananda

Any person who prays according to these principles will find that his or her prayers also have a tangible influence.

To this end, Paramahansa Yogananda originated the Self-Realization Fellowship Prayer Council and the SRF Worldwide Prayer Circle.

Weekly Schedule

Two weekends a month, monks of the Self-Realization Fellowship Order travel to Berkeley from the SRF International Headquarters in Los Angeles to lead meditations and services at Berkeley Temple.
