Dear Berkeley Temple Members,

The temple held a meeting during the 11:00 am service today with Brother Jayananda from Mother Center via Zoom.

Brother encouraged everyone to consider aspects of the possible new site in Walnut Creek not for ourselves but for the future of Master’s work in Northern California.

 Saturday, November 23   |  10:00 am  – 12:30 pm

2317 Buena Vista Avenue, Walnut Creek 94597

This visit will take the place of the pre-scheduled Temple Thanksgiving Retreat.

We are reminded if anyone is wanting to see the property other than during Saturday from 10:00 – 12:30, to not to walk on the church grounds or make inquires with anyone on the church grounds. The church has two pre-schools which are in session during the weekdays and must not be disturbed.

The slideshow of the Walnut Creek site which was shown at temple today is available by clicking here.

Everyone is strongly encouraged to attend the upcoming Saturday visit as we will voting during the Sunday Service on November 24.

Satsanga Service

Thursday, November 21  |  Service 8:00 pm  |  Meditation 7:00 pm

Satsanga is a term used to describe a ‘coming together for Truth’.

At Berkeley Temple the Satsanga Service is an opportunity for members to receive answers to pre-written spiritual questions which will be addressed by our ministers.

Pre-written questions may be submitted in one of two ways:

1. Placed in the box located in the back of the Main Chapel titled
    ‘Satsanga Questions”.
2. By using the form at berkeleytemple.org.

All questions will be considered and answered at the minister’s discretion.

Six Hour Meditations

November  30  |  10:00 am – 4:00 pm  |  Main Chapel  (minister led)

December 7      |  10:00 am – 4:00 pm  |  Main Chapel  lay-disciple led)

The Temple Six Hour Meditations consist of periods of silent mediation lasting approximately 40 – 45 minutes.

Chanting, accompanied by the temple kirtan group, occurs between meditation periods.

To provide the optimum meditation experience, silence from all vocal sounds and stillness of physical movements is requested.

If anyone is new to attending SRF meditation, please review the SRF meditation Guidelines to become familiar with the experience of meditating in groups of SRF members.

If it is necessary to leave the chapel, please do so only during chanting.

The meditation begins with the SRF Energization Exercises which were developed by Paramahansa Yogananda. Participation in the exercises is optional.

Our Neighbors in Need

Thank you for your continued support of our community outreach program to help our neighbors in need.

Two Berkeley Food and Housing Project collection barrels are located in the hallway near the kitchen. There are signs describing the specific items that are being collected.

Your contributions are very much appreciated.
