Lessons Study Group

The Lessons Study group is cancelled, Monday, January 20, due to the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday.

The group resumes Monday, January 27 with Lesson 6, part 2.

Temple Day of Service

Everyone is invited to attend the monthly temple maintenance day. No special skills are needed.

Attendees often remark how much they enjoy the days of service by helping the temple and sharing fellowship with fellow devotees.

The blessings of the Guru and the camaraderie among those serving on these days builds lasting bonds.

Easter Choral Group

The choral group for Celebrating Easter through music, is about to start rehearsing again. 
 
Come join the weekly PRACTICE  sessions. Meet with Marzena Jones in the junior Room for a short preliminary meeting on Sunday, February 2 at 12:15  pm.
 
New members with passion for singing are welcome! it’s is a great opportunity to develop your vocal skills and to share the joy of Christ’s resurrection in the spirit of fellowship. 
 
Marzena Jones will be available today in the back of the chapel to answer your questions.

Six-Hour Meditation

Saturday, February 9  |  10:00 am – 4:00 pm  |  Main Chapel

The Temple Six Hour Meditations consist of periods of silent mediation lasting approximately 40 – 45 minutes. 

Chanting, accompanied by the temple kirtan group, occurs between meditation periods.


To provide the optimum meditation experience, silence from all vocal sounds and stillness of physical movements is requested.

If anyone is new to attending SRF meditation, please review the SRF meditation Guidelines to become familiar with the experience of meditating in groups of SRF members.

If it is necessary to leave the chapel, please do so only during chanting.

The meditation begins with the SRF Energization Exercises which were developed by Paramahansa Yogananda. Participation in the exercises is optional.

San Damiano Retreat

Registration is now open for the San Damiano Retreat. Mary Moffitt is our will be available after Sunday Services to take registrations and answer questions.

2020 – Centennial Year of Self-Realization Fellowship

The year 2020 marks a profoundly significant milestone in the history of Self-Realization Fellowship — the 100th anniversary of Paramahansa Yogananda’s arrival in America from his native India, and his founding of Self-Realization Fellowship, the worldwide spiritual organization he established to disseminate his Kriya Yoga teachings.

At Berkeley Temple the Satsanga Service is an opportunity for members to receive answers to pre-written spiritual questions which will be addressed by our ministers.

Pre-written questions may be submitted in one of two ways:

1. Placed in the box located in the back of the Main Chapel titled
‘Satsanga Questions”.
2. By using the form at berkeleytemple.org.

All questions will be considered and answered at the minister’s discretion.

 

Technique Review Retreat

The annual commemoration meditation to honor our guru, Paramahansa Yogananda.

This is a lay-disciple led meditation accompanied by the temple kirtan group.

Please bring an offering of fruit as a symbol of your devotion.

Technique Review Retreat

January 18  |  10:00 am – 4:00 pm  |  Main Chapel

The retreat is open to all SRF students and Kriyaban members. Brother Jayananda will review the meditation techniques during the periods of meditation. 

A DVD of a talk given by Brother Chidananda titled “Yoga: the Quintessence of Spirituality” will be shown in the afternoon.

SRF student or Kriyaban cards which are needed for admittance will be checked at the Woolsey Street door.

The Temple Six Hour Meditations consist of periods of silent mediation lasting approximately 40 – 45 minutes. 

Chanting, accompanied by the temple kirtan group, occurs between meditation periods.

To provide the optimum meditation experience, silence from all vocal sounds and stillness of physical movements is requested.

If anyone is new to attending SRF meditation, please review the SRF meditation Guidelines to become familiar with the experience of meditating in groups of SRF members.

If it is necessary to leave the chapel, please do so only during chanting.

The meditation begins with the SRF Energization Exercises which were developed by Paramahansa Yogananda. Participation in the exercises is optional.

Brother Jayananda will be here to lead the meditation. The DVD of Sri Daya Mata’s talk, “Him I Shall Follow”, will be shown in the afternoon.

New Year’s Eve Meditation

The New Year’s Eve Meditation will be held December 31st from 11:30 pm to 12:15 am.  

This is an SRF tradition started by Paramahansa Yogananda as a way to spiritualize the closing of the year and welcoming in the new.

The year 2020 marks a profoundly significant milestone in the history of Self-Realization Fellowship — the 100th anniversary of Paramahansa Yogananda’s arrival in America from his native India, and his founding of Self-Realization Fellowship, the worldwide spiritual organization he established to disseminate his Kriya Yoga teachings.

To commemorate this auspicious occasion, SRF is planning a number of special events throughout 2020.

A detailed program will be posted at the beginning of the new year.
