Guidance and Encouragement

“God is the only harbor of safety from the storms of this world. “Take shelter in Him
with all the eagerness of thy heart. By His grace thou shalt obtain the utmost peace
     and the Eternal Shelter”
—Paramahansa Yogananda.

A source of inspiration and upliftment relating to this challenging time are excerpts of our guru’s writings that are on the SRF Mother Center website. Brother Bhumananda mentions this page  during his talk in this weeks Inspirational Online Service.  → Excerpts of Paramahansa Yogananda.

Another source of guidance which Brother Chidananda encourages us to have is “Where There is Light” – Insight and Inspiration for Meeting Life’s Challenges.

The current Covid-19 precautions prevents Mother Center from shipping publications but this publication and others from SRF are available at: – Where There is Light.

Paramahansa Yogananda on Courage in Times of Adversity

Affirm: “I am ever safe in the fortress of Thy loving care.”

Everything the Lord has created is to try us, to bring out the buried soul immortality within us. That is the adventure of life, the one purpose of life. And everyone’s adventure is different, unique. You should be prepared to deal with all problems of health, mind, and soul by commonsense methods and faith in God, knowing that in life or death your soul remains unconquered.

Never let life beat you down. Beat life! If you have a strong will you can overcome all difficulties. Affirm, even in the midst of trials: “Danger and I were born together, and I am more dangerous than danger!” This is a truth you should always remember; apply it and you will see that it works. Don’t behave like a cringing mortal being. You are a child of God!

Most of all I emphasize that you should get busy seeking God through meditation….Just beneath the shadows of this life is His wondrous Light. The universe is a vast temple of His presence. When you meditate, you will find doors opening to Him everywhere. When you have communion with Him, not all the ravages of the world can take away that Joy and Peace.

Fear comes from the heart. If ever you feel overcome by dread of some illness or accident, you should inhale and exhale deeply, slowly, and rhythmically several times, relaxing with each exhalation. This helps the circulation to become normal. If your heart is truly quiet you cannot feel fear at all.

Meditating together increases the degree of Self-realization of each member of the group by
the law of invisible vibratory exchange of group magnetism.”
