Launch Weekend

Bro Achalananda 3The Fundraising Campaign launch weekend in September inaugurated the public phase of the campaign with a three-day series of events. More than 400 people attended the weekend which began with a showingon Friday night of the award-winning documentary AWAKE: The Life of Paramahansa Yogananda.

Bee Hive cake & Annie_+On Saturday the 150 devotees and friends attending the afternoon picnic in Tilden Park enjoyed hearing stories and first-hand accounts of monastic life as told by the SRF senior monks who traveled to Berkeley to be with us for the launch weekend.

Sunday marked the official launch of the campaign with SRF vice-president Brother Achalananda inaugurating the campaign at an inspirational service and ribbon cutting ceremony attended by over 300 people.

Bro A-Elizabeth2The harmony and joy felt throughout the weekend was described by devotees as “like being at a mini convocation.”

The tremendous enthusiasm from devotees to keep Master’s work moving forward in the Bay Area and their generosity and good will toward the NEBT campaign is truly inspiring.

The Search for a New Temple in the East Bay

pink lotus_The Fundraising Committee, including Brother Jayananda, has been working closely with a broker who specializes in East Bay church properties.

Although the market for available church properties is limited, the committee is confident that a suitable location will be found which will ideally serve Master’s devotees in the Greater Bay Area.
