“Church is the Hive, God is the Honey” — Paramahansa Yogananda
As more seekers are finding their way to the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda through SRF centers and temples, Berkeley Temple is currently in need of keeping pace with the influx of new members. Needing to leave our former Richmond Temple property of nearly 40 years in 2012, and now after three years in a temporary location, the time has come to find a new permanent spiritual ‘hive’ for the Greater Bay Area.
To accomplish this goal the New East Bay Temple Fundraising Campaign has been established.
Carnival Day – Magic Music & Ice Cream
On April 9, 2016 the temple was transformed into a carnival atmosphere for the second fundraising event of 2016.
Attendees were treated to top notch professional musicians and magicians. The music stage was alive with performers, Lisa Ferraro & Erika Luckett, along with Chris Bryden & The Lightworkers Union.
Strolling through the crowd was magician Michael Warren proving the hand can be quicker than the eye while inside the magician’s ‘tent’, David Stryker awed groups with tricks of magic that left everyone wide eyed with wonderment.
o round out the afternoon face painters kept their brushes busy from start to finish, various games brought cheers from young and old alike while upstairs the crafts table turned out fun things to wear.
The event added $1,946 to the NEBT fundraising fund. Thank you to all who helped make this day successful. The event took many hands to bring it all together over days and weeks of planning. Then once the final bows were taken, almost like magic, thanks to everyone pitching in, less than an hour later, the chapel was ready for Sunday Services.
An online photo album has been created to preserve the memories of the terrific afternoon. To view the photo album, click this link – Photo Album
